I'm not sure when the "new" label wears off, but I've only been in UX formally for the last 2 years. I've only worked for one company, and only in one role (information architect).

Personally, it would be really great to know things like what I can/should put in my portfolio -- how do I know if those wireframes I designed belong in my portfolio if my employer's general rule of thumb is they own everything? And what do I put in my portfolio if I have nothing I can show from my current position?

The frame of reference doesn't sound as hard to me, maybe because I expect that we all have to work together at some point anyway. So making everyone aware of everyone else's background and point of view would actually be beneficial.

Great ideas - I look forward to seeing what comes of it!
